Report Filed: Charter Spectrum Disconnect policy is engineered to rob customers. Other!!
I received a disconnect notice for Sept 12 for a bill that was due Aug. 17th. Their stated policy says if your account is 30 days past due they will send you a notice on your next bill. That 30 days is counted from the day the bill is printed, not the actual due date. I needed one more day to pay, but they say the computer will not let them. 5 phone calls all the way to the supervisor. So, 30 days past due, does not refer to the due date. Plus my due date keeps changing, but that would not matter because they do not go by that. So, because their policy does not go by the acutual due date, they can disconnect me at 27 day from the date the bill was due, because their math puts is over 30 days due. I explained that I was late due to medical expenses. I explained that I needed the service for work. There was nothing they could do to give me one more day to pay. Now I will have to pay a reconnect charge, and be without service for a day. I believe this policy is designed to rip off customers.
