Report Filed: Reliance Financial Services A Global Payment Management Company sent bogus check came in mail for $3940.00 claiming I am a winner of Shoppers Direct Sweepstakes Calgary Alberta Canada!!
Just so happen while going through some financial difficulties out of the blue came a check in the mail which looks real. The letter along with the check claims that I have been selected by Universal Survey Center Incorperated as a prize winner of Shoppers Direct Sweepstakes. The check is in the amount of $3940.00. The letter instructs me to call the number on the letter to process the check and the check is to pay the taxes for a much larger check $ 96,060.00 I will recieve once the process of the smaller check is completed. I called the bank (citibank) of the check to verify if check is valid, the account is valid but the teller could not confirm to me if the company name on the check is the account holder. I then called the company who’s name is on the check and they said NO they would not and did not issue this check. Bottom line, this is a SCAM! Don’t let your vulnerability cause you to react to suddenly. Check everything you can about a check that mysteriously comes in the mail. Nowadays no one is going to give money for FREE!
