Airsep Corporation

I have been a technician for a long time repairing home oxygen concentrators for both home medical equipment providers as well as a commercial northeast medical repair facility. The Visionaire concentrators exhibit a primary problem of running their compressors too hot in my opinion. That has led to sending back most of the units purchased for warranty repair/replacement. The compressor in question is the Thomas model 2450, which to my belief, is a newly designed compressor that is not capable of long term reliability given the inadequate cooling capability of the Visionaire cabinet and fan design. In fairness to Airsep, they have graciously handled all warranty repairs in a timely manner. My beef however, is that this model Thomas compressor CANNOT be depended upon over the long haul due to heat stress. Airsep’s competitor, Respironics produces a concentrator (the Everflo), which also uses this model compressor. Their cooling design is better able to dissipate the compressor’s high heat generated, but I have seen them break down in these as well when run in a hot environment. Bottom line? Badly designed compressor trying to do too much work in too small a package.
