I see from the multitude of ongoing complaints that this job scam with payment via money order, etc., has been going on for a long time. NOW, the person is using a lady”s name as the attorney of reference, not a man”s name anymore – I guess that makes it a little more easy to believe? BLECH. I have received emails almost following verbatim to the others posted. I was told to order blank checks and send them to clients. I suspicious about starting immediately with no interview or anything else. I was suspicious about ordering and mailing the checks. When I research the name I was told to put on the check (which I was told was his wife) I realized it was not true. And then I researched Angel Investment Network which brought me to this site. I immediately emailed him and told him I was knew it was a scam and I was out. I think it is a well ran scam so please do not fall for it.

I opened a profile on AngelInvestmentNetwork.us (which has their home offices in the UK, according to the website). There was no information about pricing when I started the profile. Once I completed the profile, including uploaded documents, the pricing screen came up. I could purchase “expert help” at different levels for different prices. I didn”t choose any. Then I clicked PUBLISH. One day later, I get an email from AIN that I must remove the name of my new company from the proposal title and pitch & deal tab, and remove my name and anyone else”s name from my “company team”. I tried to do this. I was able to remove all names but when I tried to remove my company name from the proposal title, it would not change no matter how many times I changed it and clicked SAVE. Apparently this is to push me to spend usd200 for the “expert help”. Also, I was forced to upload at least one document when I made my profile. The documents were allowed to contain contact information, as per the website. When I did not choose an “expert help plan”, the uploaded document feature was removed. Again, this was to force me to buy the usd200 plan. Then I emailed the AIN to tell them that the website would not allow me to change the name in the proposal title. The man replied, “I don”t understand your email”, and then gave me the link to the “expert pricing plans”. So, the FREE site is NOT free. And there is no verifiable evidence that this site will help you find investors. It is likely an easy way for someone to make usd200 just by having a website.

I received an e-mail from a Thomas Hardy, after replying to a job add on Craigslist. I did some research as it seemed very sketchy to me. Here are the two e-mails I received, be very careful not to fall into this trap. I know I was hopeful with the economy as it is now, but they could really hurt you financially with this scam. I e-mailed back and said I was worried about the validity of the position as it seemed sketchy and I have not heard back from “Thom”. BE AWARE!!! I recieved this email this morning from Henry George, a 53 yr old man from Australia, at 5:24 AM in reply to a Career Builders job posting. However the email Subject Line said “Re: CareerBuilder Job Application: Manager Accounts Receivable”…But he responded in the letter to: “I received your resume in response to the ad for Personal Accounting Account”… There was two things wrong already wrong w/ this picture, responding at 5AM and the job position didnt add up! Furthermore, he didnt not leave any information to where his office location is, no phone number, NO other information but his Name and job title. Also, he wanted me to do a task for him BEFORE we can arrange a formal meeting…this has “FRAUD” written all over it!!! So if you come across this similar email that i”ve posted below…PLEASE AVOID!!! IT”S A SCAM!!! Always do your research! I”m glad I came across this website b4 I made ANY decisons! I replied to a job ad on craiglist and received the same exact e-mails everyone else here has received. Unfortunately i did not research it sooner, because it only took 5 minutes for me to realize it was a big scam. The next day i reveived 3 money orders for $1000 each. I contacted my local FBI and they told me how it works: Basically this person tells you they”re going to send you $$ to donate toys to an orphanage or whatever. Once you receive the money, they then tell you there is a child in need of an operation in Malaysia. So you are asked to deposit THOUSANDS of dollars in money orders into your bank account, and with that money immediately buy a western union money transfer and send the remaining money (after taking your fee) to the requested person. The scam is that the money orders are BAD. So you deposit them in your account, make all the purchases they ask you to make, and then a few days later the money orders bounce because they were no good (counterfiet or fraudulent or whatever!) So now you owe the bank all that money. I was almost taken for $3000, thank GOD i started investigating… The FBI says its very common and they scam you so quickly and disappear its impossible to catch these people. I also firmly believe they are based outside of the US. EVERYONE JUST BE REALLY CAREFUL.

A couple of days later I recieved what I thought was a very odd email from someone named Marc Hanson – he signed off on the email as Dr. Marc. I was suspicious immediately, and after discussing it with several friends, decided to do a little research. That is where I came across all the scam reports for the Angel Investment Network, thankfully. It scares me to think that I sent my resume to this individual listing my address, phone, job history and references. I don”t really know how to respond, or whether to just delete the email and forget it, chaulk it up to experience and be thankful I didn”t get in deeper.
