1.0 star rating I am very saddened than this store didn’t cooperate with me in “returning” our baby Sun Conure. I say return in parenthesis because the bird is not in my possession since its still not weaned. The day of the sell, 11 DEC 2016, Jenny (spelling?) the owner of BirdSmart, verbally told me that there was no maintenance required with that bird and that the bird required full payment. We paid $539.99 that day. The receipt says we only had to give a 50% deposit….ugh. Later on in the week, I found out the bird needs nail clippings every other month, 1 wing clipped, can release toxins from its feathers if the room is not well ventilated, baby bird care handling, etc. I was verbally educated with incorrect facts by BirdSmart prior to the purchase and am seeking a full refund. When I first brought this to the owner’s attention, on 19 DEC 2016, she said she would try to work out a deal with me outside of court. I tried calling BirdSmart several times over the past couple of days to follow up, and have been unsuccessful at contacting the owner. I’ve also tried emailing them at [email protected] (as stated on their website) and have also been unsuccessful. One of the employees just notified me via phone that I’m basically sh#@ out of luck. I’m sad that this baby bird is going to miss out on an opportunity to go to a nice home while it’s still a baby. I would imagine the demand would be higher. But, I’m even more saddened that the owner didn’t keep her word on trying to work out a deal with me. The “local” store didn’t come through for me this time around. It makes me sad because my family would occasionally visit BirdSmart over the past several years….we have been loyal to them. But, apparently, the feeling is not mutual. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY AND WOULD ADVISE ALL FUTURE CUSTOMERS TO BE CAUTIOUS OF BIRDSMARTS SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!
