In May 2007 my clutch went out at 28102 miles. We took it to Cocoa Hyundai because it seemed premature that this would happen and thought it should be under the warranty. When we spoke with the service manager, he said that it was NOT under warranty because it was due to MY driving(B.S. because I’ve had 5 standards throughout my driving career and NEVER replaced a clutch). They then proceeded to fix the clutch and charged us $914.84(ridiculous!!). In July 2007 the clutch went out again at 32000 miles. This time we called our sales person who immediately said bring it in. We took it to Coastal Hyundai this time. They looked it over and said that it was the master cylinder/master slave that was bad and that it should have been under warranty the FIRST time, which really ticked us off. This was on July 20, 2007 when we dropped it off. The service manager called me on Tuesday, July 24 and stated that they had it done and the new clutch was in “but it still didn’t feel right”. He then called back later and told us not to come get it they were going to keep it a couple more days to make sure. I called Saturday July 28 and left a message for him but got no return call on Monday. I then called at 8:47 a.m. this morning August 1st. He acted like he didn’t know who I was, then he said “yeah, an 06′ Elantra, yeah my mechanic has it up pulling the tranny out now” I asked when they determined it was the tranny because I though it was just the clutch cylinder’s, he then said “oh, clutch, that’s right, yeah now I remember, we should be able to get a clutch in it in a couple of days”. At that point I stated that I was going to contact an attorney regarding the lemon law and he hung up on me. They have totally pi**ed us off. It’s not only sad that since they are supposedly owned by the same people, their service departments are that ignorant and have blatent disregard for customers. I have a young daughter and my husband is out of town quite a bit for work and I need to have a reliable car, that is why we bought a Hyundai to begin with. We have filed a complaint with the BBB and are pursuing other option to get this rectified, at least getting our $914.84 back plus interest for THEIR mistake and inferior inspection.
