For some individuals, the idea of experiencing a medical procedure is scary, and I am one of those people who are terrified with the idea of medical operations and surgeries. To my bad luck, a couple of months back, I had to take facial surgery. What I had in my mind was that, for facial surgery, it is important to know both the benefits and the risks. It can be expensive and is not usually covered by health insurance. There may be a financial loss due to the time taken to recover work commitments as well. So, I was very choosy to select a well-known surgeon. I consulted with my friends and family and finally decided to see Doctor Matthew Epstein, at Green Lake Oral and Facial Surgery. All was hunky-dory till the surgery started. If I cut the long story short, Dr Mathew distorted my face, left my eyes uneven, one of the eyes being more inclined than the other, and permanently encrusted pieces of scar tissue in my skin. After the operation, there was a very high inflammation around my face which limited the movements of my face and neck as well. It caused bruising and pain at the jagged edges of the scar tissue when I used to move. His negligent methods also affected my vision and my eyes movement was also disturbed as he put extra padding that caused the problem in the first place. Last but not least, he suddenly decided to cover his mistake by applying a trick, so that the people could not discover what he did to me. He had permanently changed the looks of my face, and took away some quality years of my life, too. Later on, I had to see various high-level specialists both within America and abroad who did reasonable repair work on my face and made me face the society. But, I still have not recovered my original state. Dr Matthew has not only proved to be a heavy burden on my face but on my bank accounts as well. His fee was too high in the first place but not as high as it cost me to repair his surgical mistakes. Now, I am under a hefty debt due to his unprofessional and unethical practice. He did not do any attempt to fix his mistakes by himself or by referring me to other specialists with more experiences, rather he kept on making it worse. Keeping in mind that there are numerous problems associated with facial surgery operations, such as fibrosis, rigidity, soreness and various diverse side effects, but treatable if diagnosed at an early stage, therefore, he showed has been very careful at first place. A qualified and reliable surgeon should explain beforehand. He should provide financial coverage, and refer the patient to another surgeon in case of any complications, but he did not do any such thing in my case. I wanted to post photos of complications from the procedure, but then I would no longer be anonymous and I don’t want to get into more trouble with Doctor Matthew Epstein.
