After seeing many commercials on tv about how wonderful Kool Smiles is, I had to take some action. My 4 yr old granddaughter was seen at Kool Smiles for a check up. At her 2nd visit, we were under the impression that she was to have some cavities filled, since she had been there previously for an evaluation. A mask was placed on her face with the nitrous oxide to relax her prior to having dental work completed. After the mask had been on her face, and she had been placed in a reclining position for quite awhile, the staff left the room to discuss with other staff her appropriate dental treatment. They came back into the room, and realized that they had no idea and no records of what she was to have done. The gas was turned off at this point, but the mask was left on. After another 30 minutes of waiting and talking with other staff, they decided to start treatment, which was to include fillings of cavities. At this point, my granddaughter had already been waiting patiently with the mask on for quite awhile. She became upset and started crying. The staff became very irritated with her, and told me that she needs to leave and is not allowed to return to that office. Of course, I had no intention of returning to that office with any children. I was horrified with the treatment my granddaughter received. My daughter has another pediatric dentist that she could have taken her to, but made this appointment since she was able to get her in immediately. Believe me, there is a reason you are able to get into that office quickly. My granddaughter and I both left in tears. Please don”t subject any children to this torture. There are many many other dentists that are wonderful and will treat your children with the respect and kindness they deserve. My granddaughter was seen by anther dentist, who stated that she absolutely did not need any fillings. Her checkup and cleaning were completed without any difficulty whatsoever. I hope this helps someone else avoid a terrible experience.

As I”m writing this, I am seating in the koolsmiles office in virginia beach. My children 10 and 16 year old had an appt today on April 30th @ 11 am. We got to our appointment at exactly 1040 am. There was about 3 other people waiting and i don”t know how many in the back but 3 other people walked through the door for check in and got seen before we did. I got up to speak with front desk and they all looked around to see who and when would they be called. In about 7 minutes, my youngest got called and then I got on the phone with corporate to file a complaint. While on then phone say about 4 minutes, they then called the oldest in. My complaint is about the time and all the other patients with appointments after 11 came in and got seen before my children. This is straight up b*******! My life does not revolve around Koolsmiles and I do have other engagements for the day. I don”t mine if it was 15-20 minutes of waiting but it was an hour and 15minutes. Stop scheduling these appts for people if you dont have the staff. This is truly ridiculous and now the girl is being apologetic for the wait time. Too late! Koolsmilws really need to get on track and provide excellent service to there customers because this isn”t the first time this has happened to us and i contacted corporate and got results. You get paid for doing your job so do it right in a timely fashion. It is now 1237 pm and im waiting for my children to get fillings and a sealant. Really! This is not the last koolsmiles will hear of me because im planning on taking business somewhere else and spreading rhw news around to everyone else who is or has experienced this and other problems with koolsmile. Don”t be afraid and let your voice be heard because just like anywhere else, they need our business to grow.

Back in my daughters July Appointment we were told two more appointments then her braces were to be taken off. Her name is Logan Burns. Today September 17 they did not take off her braces but did another adjustment instead. I am very disappointed and upset. My daughter is heartbroken and cried on the way home. We made an appointment now for next Wednesday and I hope there will be no problem getting her braces off. I am upset as this has taken so long

Date: August 12, 2017 Client Number: [protected] Kool Smiles is supposed to be based on a kid friendly, professional atmosphere. Unfortunately, this is not what I received on my visit this past Saturday. The experience my 5 year old son had to endure on that visit was not nice, nor appropriate. Being strapped down in a harness for over 15 minutes waiting for the only dentist in the office at that time, to come in and do the dental work was very upsetting. Understanding there is only one dentist in the office at that time, you would think they would strap him down just a few minutes before the dentist come in to work and not 15-20 minutes before. Not to mention, the dentist was not kid friendly or kid sensitive at all. My son began to panic after being strapped down for so long. One of the women who assisted in the strap down of my son was very rude and unprofessional. The information should be listed on my son”s record as to she said to put the notes on his record, RUDELY. Unfortunately, I did not get her name, but she was someone that apparently doesn”t work well with the public. Unfortunately, my son did not receive the procedure he was there for. He just received being stuck in the gums with needles twice (which he cried because it hurt) and being strapped down for over 15 minutes, rudeness, and unprofessional-ism. At the end of this, they did not realize this was a little 5 year old they were doing this to. I will not be bringing my son back to this kool smiles location and I do plan to take extra steps with this complaint because this was very upsetting and not right.

Employees at front desk are rejects, disrespectful, don”t know how to keep files. Every time I go there I have to fill out the same paper work and always have to give them my Custody papers that they should be keeping on file. The appointment I made was for my Grandson for pain he was having and this was confirmed the day before when they called to confirmed appointment but when I arrived they said it was for a cleaning. They did an x-ray and then I was told they were too back up to do the cleaning unless I wanted to wait up to 2 hrs. A whole day and 18 miles for nothing!!! They wanted me to come back next week. I am trying my best to find another place to take him. I have worked Quality Assurance for years on the phone, please teach your employees how to treat Patients. Cell phone should be put away, personal conversations should be stopped when Patients come in, and company phone is not for their use. They are REJECTS from school. I was given papers to fill out as if I were a new patient and 10 minutes later this lady comes to me and ask me to fill out some more papers. I told her nothing had changed on the medical records and I was told it didn”t matter she wanted them filled out again. All employees should wear a name tags so they can be reported. Stop over booking. I have never seen a dentist office run this way.

Good afternoon, I am coming here today to make a complaint becuase I am not a happy camper. I been coming to this dentist for quite a long time, and been having problem since I have been coming here. They constantly rescheduling my dentist appointments, because of a mistake they have made, and I don”t think it”s fair at this point, they need better communication skills in this office.

Hi my name is Adrienne Stokes and i have 4 children that I bring to the Kool smiles on Broadway in Baltimore, Maryland. Everytime that I bring my kids here every 6 months i always get pushed to the back even though I am at the appointment 15 minutes early. Just like I am here now was here at 7:50 for my appointment at 8. They have allowed 6 childry who came in after us to be seen before mines. Called one of my children in and now I have to wait because someone got to register us. I have been bringing my children here for 8 years and the service is getting better. This is the closest location to my home and I am always disappointed with their service. If you have any questions I can be contacted at [protected]. Thank you

I am being charged for x-rays/panos for my son Mitchel McCaslin. I was told x-rays would be uncompted by Dr. Sharma. I used to work for Kool Smiles and x-rays & panos were necessary for wisdom teeth removal, but were uncompted. Even if someone came in with a lot of pain, co-pays were taken then uncompted. I spoke with both office”s & manager Kathy Ancell. She told me it would be removed and nothing has changed. It is now on my credit report as a negative mark for $84. PLEASE REMOVE ASAP!!!

I am having an issue with getting seen on time. Thry need to figure out how they can schedule appointments. I am a frustrated parent, didnt have issues til 6 months ago. This is my biggest problem is being seen at my appointment time. This is ridiculous. I will never use kool smiles ever again because this is the worst customer ever. When I signed in, I kept hearing about the computer being down, but not once did the lady for ortho at the desk ever say that. Then a patient signed in after me but got to go in before my daughter. This is bs. Disappointed in koolsmiles lack of customer service that they had 6 months ago.

I am new to the area and this office had just opened. I was a walk in patient and very pleased with the loOK of this office. My child is 5 and was due for a cleaning. We checked in at 9:30 for our 9:45 appointment with a woman with very short blond hair. This lady was rude and was more interested in her cell phone than answering my questions. We were seen at 10. The assistant who greeted us was very friendly, my daughter even grabbed her hand. First thing while back there were x-rays. She was unable to cooperate with x-rays because of her gag reflex, not behavior. The assistant continued being friendly saying “Its OK sweetheart, you”re little mouth is just too small for our big pictures!” I was very impressed. Then we were greeted by a hygienist who was smiling ear to ear. My daughter talked to her and let her clean “her pretty little teeth”. The hygienist told me her teeth loOKed good and she didn”t see any cavities but the doctor would be over soon to loOK. The doctor came over after 20 minutes of waiting, introducing herself. “Hi Mom, I”m doctor Mona. Nice meeting you”. By this time I was very pleased with our experience until … Doctor Mona put on her mask, glasses, then gloves. (Touching her hair with her gloves) I was disgusted but didn”t want to correct her. She then began counting Aubrey”s teeth. She started calling things out for the assistant to chart and then set the chair up and let my child pick a toy. She told me my child had 6 cavities and would need stainless steel caps. She also said the child would need sealants to prevent cavities. The hygienist just told me she saw nothing. I”m shocked so I asked the Doctor to show me the cavities on the xrays. Her reply “You cannot see them as they are small.” Then walks away. The assistant comes to be explaining the treatment plan and needing a signature. While explaining, she states these teeth need caps because they have large cavities and the cavities are between her teeth. I tell her the doctor just told me they were small… she replied she was unsure but would find out. I was then offered same day treatment. Oh how I should have said no…but I said yes. My child was terrified and crying and all Doctor Mona did was scream at her to stop crying. She then proceeded to give my child a shot and she was moving her head everywhere because she didn”t want the shot. Doctor then told me about a papoose, and I quickly declined. She numbed my daughter by having the assistant hold her head still.. my daughter had a large bubble on her lip and the doctor told me it was normal and would go away. She drilled as soon as she finished numbing (not letting it soak in or anything) and my daughter screamed the whole time. I was crying because I was so upset and asked for my daughter to be let up so we could leave, the doctor declined saying “we are almost done”. She finished and let my 5 year old up…who was dripping sweat, blood red from crying, a large bubble under her nose, and a big nick on her cheek from the drill… From this moment on, I knew I was never coming back! I toOK the xrays to another doctor in town, Dr. Boren, who stated none of these teeth needed treatment, and baby teeth do not need sealants. I continue to go to him and my daughter absolutely loves him.

I am very dissatisfied and upset with the service and treatment I have been receiving from Kool Smiles for the past 10 months. I took my son to have crowns put in by Dr. Taiwo Ogundipe and the job was not performed correctly. On Nov. 13, 2018, I took my son to Kool Smiles because he fell and chipped his 2 front teeth. I was told that he will need to get a root canal and crowns put on them. Kool Smiles referred me to someone else to get the root canal done but come back to Dr. Taiwo Ogundipe to have the crowns put on. I went back to Kool Smiles on Nov. 26, 2018, to have crowns put on and they said, he has to have his teeth cleaned in order to put the crowns (it was never mentioned to me that his teeth need to be cleaned prior to getting the crowns). I took him on Dec. 1, 2018, for a cleaning. I went back on Dec. 3, 2018, to get the crowns, and they told me the crowns are not back. I asked them, did you all not know this 2 days ago when I was here? No one could answer me. On Dec. 10, 2018, they could not put the crowns due to oral hygiene issues with my son. On Jan. 9, 2019, Dr. Taiwo Ogundipe put the permanent crown on. On Mar. 1, 2019, I took my son back to Kool Smiles because the crowns came out and it was recemented. The crowns came out again on Sept. 1, 2019. I took him back to Kool Smiles on Sept. 2, 2019, he was refitted for a new set of crowns. On Sept. 20, 2019, I spoke with Kool Smiles to confirm the appointment for Sept. 23, 2019, & confirmed the service that was being done. On Sept. 23, 2019, I had an appointment at 8:00 am, I got there at 8:24 am. The receptionist asked, what time is your appointment? I said it was at 8:00. The receptionist (I think her name is Karina Trujillo, but I am not 100% sure) said it”s 8:24. I said I know that we were stuck in traffic. The receptionist said I have to speak with the doctor to see if he is able to see him, have a seat. I waited about 10 minutes and the receptionist called me back to the counter and said, unfortunately, his crown isn”t back yet. I asked her, did you all not know this when I spoke with you all on Friday, why didn”t anyone tell me this? The receptionist said, you probably spoke with someone at the call center. I said, no I spoke with someone at this office on Friday and they never mentioned that the crown was not back. The manager of the office comes out and ask what”s the problem? I told her, they are saying that my son crown is not in and no one mentioned that to me when I called on Friday. I do not have time to keep driving all the way up here. The receptionist interrupts us & tell the manager, she was late anyway. I told the receptionist, I do not give a d**n that I am late, even if I was on time, you all still do not have the s**t to fix his mouth. The manager tells me to calm down. I told her I will not calm down because I have been dealing with this situation and you all since Nov. 2018, and you all still have not fixed my son teeth and you all still do not have your s**t together. It does not make sense that you all put these permanent crowns in on Jan. 9, 2019, and they have come out 3 times since then. No one wants to own up to their mistakes and they keep dropping the ball. They are very unprofessional and unorganized. They act as if they do not care what is going on with my son or the fact that we are in this situation because they agreed to do a job that they do not know how to do and is not being done correctly. There is no way my son crowns should have come out of his mouth 3 times after they were cemented in. It does not make sense that they do not know how to properly communicate with their patients. I should not have gone to that office twice to have my sons crown put in just for them to tell me the crowns were not there. Someone should have communicated with me that the crowns were not in before my son had to miss school and I had to miss work. My son is now using denture glue to keep the temporary crown from coming out until we can find someone else to do the job Dr. Taiwo Ogundipe screwed up. This entire experience with Kool Smiles/Franklin Dental & Braces has been nothing but a complete nightmare and headache. I have never seen a place of business so unprofessional, rude, and unorganized. I do not think it is fair that they are expecting me to pay for a service that was poorly done and incomplete. My son still was not able to get his permanent crown put in today. He still has the temporary crown in and he is using denture glue to keep them from sliding back out. Client ID/acct#-4101062

I brought my children in for a cleaning and exam. We had a 9 am appointment and we were told they would all be seen at once. They didn”t finish seeing us until 3 hours later. The television ads claim that parents are welcomed to accompany children during the exam if you wish but they tried to deny me access to my 5 year old son, TWICE. They suggested that my son have 5 silver crowns on his molars and wanted us to come back for 4 seperate appointments. A week later and another 3+ hours at the over crowded dirty office, my son had silver crowns on 2 of his molars. 30 minutes after leaving, my 5 year old son began screaming in pain and continued for hours. I gave him tylenol and motrin but he continued to be in severe pain. The dentist called him in a prescription of codine which got him through the night until about 2 am. This pain went on for days. I brought him back 5 days later, he was examined and they said that nothing appeared to be wrong but he needed to come back the next day when the dentist who did the work was there. I went back the next day and retrieved his records so we could be seen by another dentist at another facility, NOT KOOL SMILES. The next day, I bought him to another dentist to be examined. They did a new set of xrays and compared them to the ones taken before the dental work had been done at Kool Smiles. The new dentist said he saw NO reason for the silver crowns that were already put in and certainly no reason for any addition crowns. The tiny cavity that my son did have could have easily been fixed with a standard filling. The pain my son was feeling was probaby from a nerve damage occured during the procedure and we were told that the tooth would probably die. Please don”t subject your children to this cruel and crude dentist facility. My kids actually refer to it as Kruel Smiles now.

I brought my daughter for regular 6 months check on her teeth today. She is autistic and she is non verbal five years old. The dentist was examing her mouth and of course she wasnt happy about it she doesnt like anyone to be in her mouth. So he was so rough and pressed so hard with that tool that he caused one of her teeth to come out. I informed the hygentist that the dentist made her tooth come out . She was very apologetic and asked if I knew where the tooth was I informed her I didnt. Another hygentist found the tooth stuck on the chair that the dentist was sitting in. I guess when he caused the tooth to fly out of her mouth and on to the chair he was sitting in. I will never bring either of my kids back to kool smiles. I would suggest that you all get dentist that can work with special needs kids with out causing their teeth to come out of their mouths.

I called and complained about the way my son and I were treated at the the Shreveport Louisiana location on Jewella Ave. My son was just and scared and I was disrespected and humiliated by the staff. I never even got a call back. I am disgusted when I see your commercial on tv and my son never wants to see a dentist now. The lady I spoke with when I called the corp. number said that she would send the complaint in and i would be contacted, but I never heard from anyone. This experience has made my husband and I to contact someone who will care being nobody in your organization has the decency to call me back.

I called at 3:25pm on Wednesday Aug 14th for an emergency visit THAT DAY, as my daughter just had the filling of her previously filled tooth*2 months earlier) fall out. My daughter has Autism and has VERY different sensory responses than the neurotypical person. When I called I explained that the previously filled tooth filling came out I explained that my daughter has Autism and her sensory responses are more heithened than in other people and that it was a MUST that we get this refilled TAT DAY. On the phone they said “can you get here by 4pm? I replied yes. We got there by 3:44 pm AND were SAT til AFTER 4pm! Finally took daughter for xray, they only LOOKED at the tooth, and would not fill the tooth s, saying that they don’t do any work other than xrays and cleaning after 4pm! WTF? My kid is Special Needs! I specfically stated on phone we needed filled THAT DAY, why bring us down from 20 min away (speeding mind you to get there by 4pm) only to NOT do what we can there for? We didn’t NEED an xray, I knew what the problem was! I had the filling that fell out WITH me and showed them!. Seriosly? So now I have to do the same thing again today at 1pm where she will get the tooth filled. They also used to have convenient (for patrons) EVENIN hours and weekends, what happned to those? Switching from Kool Smiles to it’s new Name “Porter Dental” recently has only made this dental practice WORSE! “Flexible hrs” my arse! When they say flexible they mean for THEMSELVES not the patients! Ugh, after today, I’m finding a new pediatric Dental firm

I cannot stand this place every since the second time my children came here for just dental cleanings about a year ago every time we have to go back it feels like hell. And now that my daughter sees the orthodontist it”s 2x the hell becuase we have to go back more often. Every appointment they are running an hour behind and the staff is clueless or not compassionate to the customers concerns. And instead of letting me transfer to another location they are saying we would have to start treatment all over again, that”s [censored] the same dr.s go to different locations. This company takes full advantage and beyond of Medicaid patients and the costs. I”m not taking my kids back there for anymore dental exams it not worth the time I”m losing from work or that my children is losing from school, and damn sure not worth the stress every time.

I decided to take my 2yr here since it was new & looked kid friendly… I walked in & stopped at the reception desk. I waited patiently for one of the three workers to assist me… They never did. After standing nearly 5 mins – I had to ask them “are there forms that I need to fill out?!” we were called to the back 15 mins later – which was a reasonable wait time. They explained that my son would take his x-rays shortly three times – so I waited after his exam. I was walked to the reception desk and then told the x-rays will be on the next visit (So I waited for nothing). Did I mention one of the workers had her 2 elementary school-age daughters all over the office. The hygienist assissting my son had to explain to the little girl not to touch the cleaning instruments that were just in m son”s mouth!!! The dentist found 1 cavity & advised me i”d have to come back to have it filled. Fine. Well the clerk asks “morning or afternoon?” and when I picked afternoon – she doesn”t bother to ask me which day nor date works for me. Just my luck, the worker”s kids have made their way to the reception desk & they”re on each side of the clerk asking her to spell her name while i”m trying to schedule his follow-up appointment. Very unprofessional. More wait time for me!! But the tip of the iceberg is that my son”s 1st visit was today (3/25/11) and yet the appointment to have 1 cavity filled apparently is sept 28, 11 (In 6 months)!!! Why would I wait 6 months to have a cavity filled. He”s 2yrs old. I don”t wait 6 months at a professional dentist office to have a cavity filled!! I called yesterday for an appointment & they had an opening the next morning at 9am and 5pm… Yet after his exam the next day – they can”t fill a cavity until 6 months laster!!! My son will not be returning there!!

I do not have a compliment for this business. I went there one year ago and was treated well. X-rays were taken of my teeth and I did my annual teeth cleaning for adults. This year on April 11th I was unable to get my teeth cleaned because I refused the X-rays. Not what was the problem with me not wanting the X-rays. I called my insurance and they informed me that this dentistry was trying to rack up the bill by asking me to have X-rays done every year as an adult. now my teeth couldn”t possibly have changed that drastically over the course of a year- I”m an adult. On top of that a manager came out and made like I was a problem client and escorted me out of the building. I have reported Kool Smiles to Passport so that they can not that in their files. Businesses like this often loose their Passport privileges. No thanks to any of you. And I won”t be back- no apology needed.

I had a appointment for my 3 daughters . They told me that they couldn”t find my 2 daughter actived dental plan I ask them why they told well is not showing nothing we are only able to see one I was why if u can see one u can see the rest they all have the same plan I call the plan and they told me that they all are ctive and they under a different plan I told them what the operator from the Medicaid had told me and I ask if they want to speak to them they told me no that they don”t check eligibility if is in the system I was soo disappointed on them I was the one doing everything to check my daughter eligibility. I was on the phone with the Medicaid operator the whole time they bother to tell me I will speak to them nothing they were getting mad because I was there asking them tell them what to do. I feel that they didn”t care at all about what I was trying to tell them I defentily would not go there every again

I had an appointment at Kool Smiles for the last 6 months. They robo-called my home many times to confirm the appointment and the calls actually continued even after I confirmed the appointment once with a live person then again with a robo call. The even emailed to receiva a confirmation. Apparently, they serve primarily medicaid patients and the “missed appointment” rate is high. I arrived to my child”s appointment on time, with a vaild Humana Dental Insurance card, my child and my checkbook. The appointment was at 5:00 p.m. I signed in, presented my card and the lady at the desk noted that she did not have the card in her file. She had completed a “verification” with the insurance card of my former employer. What was so frustrated is that I had given them my new insurance information twice, once in the office in Februray and again a month prior to my appointment. The lady at the desk said she needed to send up the new card to be verified. This front desk lady then left the office at 5:30 p.m. At 5:40, I approached the other lady at the desk and asked when my child would be seen. She said she hadn”t received a certification back from my insurance company. I called my insurance company directly and they were willing to fax the verification to the office but the desk lady said that would not work – that her Kool Smiles verification place was closed. At 6:00 p.m. I was informed that they were closing and that my child would not be seen that day. Between scheduling, getting there, waiting driving home – I wasted three hours of my life that I will never get back. If anyone on the planet can explain why a mother with an on-time child, an appointment, a valid insurance card that Kool Smiles takes and a checkbook is declined to be seen I would like to know. The level of incompetence is astounding. Take a look at their “Quality Report” on their website and see how they glaze over their complaints received. Good PR and bright colors on their website and in the office only go so far. I am also contacting my benefits department and Humana dental to let them know how poorly my child and I were treated. To add to all of this, my child has autism, and began to cry in their office and was inconsolable on the thirty minute ride home when he realized they would not see him.

I had an appointment scheduled at 9am. We waited 30 mins, went to find out how long the wait is, only to find out that they were in a huddle. Wtf. Whats the purpose in scheduling an appointment. This location should only be walk ins only, thats how the treat scheduled appointments. This makes no sense, I have to be at work so i can pay for these braces on my son”s teeth. I really hate coming here. There are only 2 patients being seeing for othro care, so why the wait. Its ironic that after i complained they call my son and the second patient who is also waiting. I really wish i would have went with Great Expressions to provide dental service for my boys. Disgusted.

i had to have 2 teeth pulled & i was told my insurance would cover it. I get there & after 30 minutes of waiting they finally tell me the price of it & i expressed how when i was there May 6th that they said it was covered. The lady at the front then told me that “A Dental Assistant probably told you the price, I’m sorry & we are training them on that now.” I then asked for something for the pain & got told to take over the counter meds… NEVER AGAIN!! 1. a dental assistant shouldn’t be discussing any type of pricing. 2. Over the counter meds don’t work for the pain! 3. The procedure should have been done for the cost they said since it was their mess up.. I have a horrible fear of dentists. This was because of HORRIBLE dental experiences as a child. When the pain became too bad, I thought that maybe someone who treated children could help me. What I saw and read disturbed me greatly. I read about all the restraints used on children. Then for half an hour, I had to listen to a small child SCREAM AND SCREAM AND SCREAM as the dentist worked on him. That child will grow up like me and I consider that kind of treatment deplorable. I will never return or recommend them to anyone.

I have been waiting well over an hour to see a dentist. I call for an emergency appointment. I shared my active insurance information over the phone. I leave work to make my appointment on time. I get to the office and explain to them that I”m in unbearable pain, they have me waiting now for well over an hours in pain. They explain that their process to verify insurance is through a 3rd party and can take up to 30min. Well, it”s been 1 1/2 hours and I”m still in the cold lobby waiting in pain. All they can say is, sorry that”s our process. I will never ever recommend anyone to come Kool Smiles…it”s simply RIDICULOUS

I have complained before and spoken to the office manager Ed on 2 different instances. He assured me that the office was going through change and the staff was superior. I want to make one thing clear-I do not have a choice. I have to bring my children to this practice because it is the only one in the area that BMC takes. I am very disatisfied every visit and I believe that the Kool Smiles website is a bunch of lies. Most people who complain are in the same boat as I am-left with no other choice. That is why we have to go back to them-to get some sort of care for our children. My complaint today is my 3 year old son was left sitting in a chair for 30 minutes before anyone even cleaned his teeth. That took all of 10 to 12 minutes. He was then left sitting for another 25-30 minutes-after which he started playing w/ his shoes and moved on to playing w/ the plastic chair cover-which looks like a clear garbage bag. The 2 techs had their backs to him and he put it over his head and pulled it down to his chest. I had to run to get the reception to go in the back and tell them. Seriously-this is a huge safety hazard and needs to be addressed immediately.(all this was seen through the window because you are not allowed to go in with children of any age)

I have paid for the root canal procedure up front the dentist finished the first half which is the surgery and now he refuses to see me at the time that is convenient for me. He and the falls church office never mentioned that for a crown procedure there are only 8:00 am appointments and 9:00 am appointment which are both impossible times for me to make I requested a 10;00 am appointment at any date . But the dentist and the office refused completely and offered a 9:30 appointment 7 days from now. There attitude was totally unacceptable as the dentist mentioned I should figure out what I have to deal with in the morning and come at the times he mentioned and the customer service supervisor said the same offering a 9:30 appointment or else if I ll be canceled . They kept on lecturing me about he fact that whatever it is ai bave yo deal with on the morning I need to figure out a way around it and make it in the times that they mentioned which is totally unacceptable this personal information and none of they business and this is not professional at all. I request to get a refund for the crown procedure that seems not to ever happen since the dentist refuses to see me at 10 am and there was no mention from the very beginning that these appointment times are the only ones available to get the crown done or else I would have looked for another dentist office .

I have spent the past 3 weeks phoning and visiting the local branch of Kool Smiles. I called multiple times before my appointment to ENSURE that the dentist I was seeing accepted my insurance. I even asked when I went to the appointment. All parties agreed that I was fine. About a month later I receive a bill for over $300 for a cleaning and x-rays, which are covered under my insurance. I called and called. After FINALLY getting in contact with someone to speak to regarding billing, they told me that I needed to go in. Once I informed them that I had been in and discussed the same problem, they continuously said “I don’t know why they would tell you that, we can’t see that information”. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever received. I told them to shove it and to play the recording back, which they did, and they said “Oh, you did ask if the specific dentist would accept your insurance, ” to which my response was “did you think I would lie about it?” Everyone who you speak with is unprofessional, and unable to answer any question you have. They all want to blame the customer, rather than blame themselves for screwing up. I don’t care if Kool Smiles is the last dentistry on the face of the earth, I WILL NEVER go back. I would let my teeth rot out of my head before going back to see them after this whole ordeal.

I needed a new retainer, as my old one had broken. I called Kool Smiles, which sends you through a long automated phone service before sending you to their call center in Georgia. The Kool Smiles call center claimed their earliest available appointment was a month away, so I made an appointment and waited a month. When my appointment finally came, the front office at the Tyler, Texas location had issues billing my insurance. They claimed my insurance was closed at that time, so we would have to reschedule for two days in the future. They blamed all of this on my insurance. Before the next appointment, I called the Kool Smiles call center and confirmed that my insurance was being billed. They assured me that everything was set for my appointment the next day. When I came for the second appointment, the front office again claimed they could not bill my insurance, because it was closed. They had not attempted to contact my insurance during the two day wait, as planned, and claimed they did not hear from the call center yesterday. After much run around, they agreed to let me see the doctor. However, after bringing me back to a patient room, they then discovered that they did not have an orthodontist at the office that day. They claimed they had no way of knowing that I needed a retainer, because the call center had made my appointment. This was not true, as the front office made this appointment when my original appointment had to be rescheduled. Regardless, they claimed they only had an orthodontist on site on Tuesdays. Naturally, they set my next appointment for Thursday. I have since cancelled that appointment and made an appointment with a professionally run office. Do not go, unless you like waiting a month for an appointment, and taking off of work for appointments just to be turned away.

I received a bill for a check-up with one x-ray on my daughter. Blue cross blue shield confirm that they cover 100%. So why am I still getting billed? I”ve received 2 emails stating that I need to pay my bill now. Each time I have replied with they need to contact blue cross blue shield. I am very upset!! The hispanic woman at the front desk on i-40 and bell in amarillo texas scanned the card in when we checked in for the appointment. Then she confirmed at the desk (Before my daughter was even seen) that blue cross blue shield will cover 100%. I would sincerely appreciate it if you would take care of this bill, seeing as though blue cross blue shield covered 100%! Any more harassing emails and I will take legal action!

I took my 13 month old to Kool Smiles after seeing their commercials and how they say they specialize in children dentistry. I”m sure there are good people that work at Kool Smiles. My overall experience however was good until our name was called. They have a nice play area and a big spacious waiting room. When my sons name was called we went back with a guy who barely spoke English. I was trying to explain my childs condition. My child doesn”t eat well so he drinks Milk as his main food group. The guy told me I shouldn”t give my child milk but once a day and that he should only have a little bit. I tried to explain things but couldn”t seem to get my point across. After that conversation he had me pin my son to the chair as he proceeded to stuff gauze in his mouth. The whole time my child is choking, screaming, and thrashing around. Then the doctor comes in and makes me do this all over again with pinning him down so she can look inside his mouth and she said I wasn”t holding him well enough and proceeded to yell at me to hold him down correctly. Needless to say I will never be taking my child back to Kool Smiles.

I took my boys to the 1 in Roanoke Va. The lady that assisted my 14 year old told him his gums where dead and his teeth looked like crap. She was very unprofessional. The dr. told my 18 year old he needs a root canal even though his roots are dead. He told her to just go ahead and pull it instead. That”s when she told him she went to school and knows what needs to be done. The staff there is always in a hurry and seems to not care for the patients are their families. Needless to say my kids wait go back. After that day I got them a new dentist. No kid should be scared to go to the dentist.

I took my son to the kool smiles rock hill location for his first dentist appt and will NEVER go back!! This place needs to be shut down! My son is 16 months old and has 4 teeth and they held him down and started flossing his teeth and sticking things in his mouth… being his first appt he was scared and upset and this is supposed to be a kid friendly place, they did nothing to try to calm him down! He was turning purple from holding his breath and screaming and crying! I told them to let him up so I could calm him down and the lady just looked at me and said it had to be done! Like why does a 16 month old who has 4 teeth need to have their teeth flossed when his teeth dont even touch?!? The lady wad holding his head down on her lap and holding his mouth open and would get an attitude when hed jerk away! It took me getting an attitude and literally snacthing him away from them and walking out! And they were all extremly rude about the whole thing! I really saw how unappropriate it all was when I made him another appointment at another dentist office! They never tried to hold him down and did not floss his teeth at all! This place in rock hill is absolutly awful
