I received an automated call stating I needed to call Marcus Brown at 202-480-8096 because I was being sued by the IRS. I called and Marcus informed me that I owed money and because I didn’t respond to their certified letter (that I never received), that I was going to be arrested, have my money froze, and have a lien on my house. After I started questioning on how you could take everything from someone without notifying them, and how I could owe money on 5 years worth of tax returns, he got angry. He started screaming and cussing at me and hung up. I called back and asked for his badge number, he wouldn’t give it to me. I then called the IRS and confirmed that this is a person that is trying to impersonate the IRS to scam people out of money. The IRS will always give you a badge number and will never demand payment over the phone. If you have a question, call the actual IRS to confirm before doing anything with anyone over the phone. .
