Under no circumstances would I recommend Pat Schwartz as a CFI, lawyer or any other capacity. She’s dishonest, incompetent, money-hungry and does not work in the interests of children. I have 2 children that asked me to help them get away from their abusive father, and I selected Pat to help protect them. Not only did she not do that, she made the recommendation he be awarded more time and all decision making. We are talking about a man that’s been arrested many times for domestic violence and fired from his job for abusing patients. My kids (13 & 15) clearly told her their concerns and fears but she dismissed them, saying it was my fault they were being abused because I wasn’t encouraging them to be with him. She never contacted my 2 older children who have also been abused by the father, nor any of my personal or professional references. She mixed up all kinds of facts and lied about who said what dozens of times in her report. She has had recent cancer and chemo which surely have affected her brain and should not be allowed to do critical work like this. She started money grubbing from the start. Since the father paid her more, she essentially spoke only to him, actually completed her written report to the court without ever speaking to me or my contacts. It was only after my kids called me crying and hysterical that I even knew she was doing her investigation. She then made 2 calls but didn’t change her pre-written report. She subsequently put a motion in to the court asking for even more money than allowed by law. She billed me for 4 hours of phone calls when I had spoken to her a total of 53 minutes. She sited 2 calls that never occurred at all. I asked for a copy of our file, and to date, 7 weeks later, she has yet to produce it even though she’s required to kby law. She’s given 6 different excuses as to why she is withholding the file, which has the evidence I need to appeal the case. I believe she forged entries and fixed the information once she knew I was attempting to obtain it. Finally, yesterday she said she would give me the file, but only if I paid her $100 to buy back my own documents. I am submitting complaint to the Attorney General and the Colorado Bar Association and hope to have her license revoked. In the meantime, protect your children by not allowing her near your family–or anyone else’s. .
