After having my oil changed at a local Walmart auto. center my car developed a small oil leak , then after that , the starter failed. I looked at the car and found a large amount of oil on front of engine and directly below oil filter- the starter was covered in oil. I reached down to see if I could feel the starter wires and as my arm touched the oil filter it rotated. it was loose. I tightened it up. then I cleaned it all up with two cans of degreaser and paper towels. still would not start. I went to Walmart to see if they would help me.I first spoke with service mgr.,then we went to see another manager, who asked me how many miles were on the car? then he said I needed to bring the car in – it will not start- then the service mgr.and I came to my house – I answered more questions, told him everything. He took pictures of the car and my oily driveway under it. I offered to show him the degreaser cans and towels. We then returned to store and I found out that – and this everyone needs to know. If you have a vehicle serviced at a local Walmart and develop a problem you will not be dealt with locally. you will have to fill out a claim form that is sent – in my case to a company in Arkansas. they will review it and ask you to have a mechanic forward a vehicle inspection report. and then in a few days send you a letter. They should be required to notify customers before touching vehicles that they outsource handling of problems and that you will be responsible for all the footwork, getting a report etc. and then maybe ?
